Through hands-on workshops and ongoing community development, we foster a culture of proactive bystanders who contribute to a safer and welcoming campus for all.

Comet Voice Core Training

Bystander Intervention can be utilized in various situations to promote a healthy, safe and supportive environment. In this foundational training session, participants will learn:

  • How to recognize signs of harmful or potentially harmful situations.
  • Effective strategies to respond with confidence and care while ensuring personal safety.
  • How to refer individuals to appropriate campus or community resources for further support.

Topic Specific Trainings

Take your bystander intervention skills to the next level by diving deeper into specialized topics. Topic-specific training provides an opportunity to explore scenarios where intervention strategies can be tailored to special situations.

Examples of past and potential topics include:
  • Supporting peers experiencing mental health challenges or suicidal ideation.
  • Intervening in situations involving alcohol misuse or risky behaviors.
  • Supporting those who are impacted by sexual or relationship violence.

Offerings vary by semester, and campus groups can request customized sessions to meet their specific needs or interests.

Do you have a passion for building a safe, supportive environment? Become a facilitator and play a key role in empowering others to act and contribute to a culture of care at UT Dallas. When you become a facilitator, you will develop a deeper understanding of bystander intervention and build skills for public speaking and leading group dialogue.
